If I occasionally feel dark clouds of potential doom mustering at the horizon, I just use a technique called ‘attention shifting’ to direct my consciousness elsewhere.
It’s what I do when I focus my mind on these words as I type them into my laptop, and then with a simple act of switching my gaze, I look up to enjoy the view. It’s an act of perceptual gear changing.
It’s not complicated. It’s not hard.
